Our Viking cat is temporarily back in the Big Smoke, leaving behind the fjords and muskoxen of her beloved Manitoulin Island. She can scarcely believe what she sees. Toronto is a mess. The Bicycult has won the War on Cars and traffic is ridiculous, considering there’s a pandemic. Panhandlers and drug zombies roam the streets, which are strewn with litter and in Third-World repair (Yonge Street, yikes!). Yet construction pylons are everywhere. The city’s vibe is a weird mix of resigned and cranky. Is it COVID? City Hall? Alien mind control?
Luckily, Norwegian forest cats are famous for their stoic optimism. Tulip knows this great city will rebound. It must. Meantime, she yearns for Kagawong and her cabin. Soon, Tulip, soon.
