I do not think this is what Manitoulin hunters had in mind when they reintroduced wild turkeys recently — not a blood feud involving our Norwegian forest cat, Tulip. Last week, you may recall, only Tulip’s Viking self-discipline kept her from leaping upon and knocking the stuffing out of these two brazen birds. The turkeys, known locally as Thelma and Louise, finally retreated, gobbling bitterly, from her steely gaze. Well, today the birds were back, right outside our door, and clearly looking to lay a whupping on stout-hearted Tulip. Luckily (for them?) Tulip sent word she was sleeping off the effects of celebrating hurdler Karsten Warholm’s Olympic triumph for Norway. She suggested Thelma and Louise check back around Thanksgiving.
